From day one, Hourglass has focused on schools and teachers. We know that our role is simple – to introduce the best possible teachers to our client schools. Since we started out in 2012, there has rarely been a dull moment! But we’ve always known that our reputation rests on the calibre of our candidates and the benefits they bring to the classroom.

2012 Hourglass is born

Hourglass’ handpicked team of experienced recruitment consultants establishes itself in the UK education recruitment market.

2015 Ground-breaking recruitment

James Letven plays a lead role in a ground-breaking recruitment event in Kingston, Jamaica. 41 of those teachers extended their contracts after an initial two year term. In 2021, more than 30 of them are still employed at the trust – and some are leading academies of their own.

2017 Frequent flyers

Hourglass is now renowned for its tailor-made overseas recruitment trips.
2017 marked the start of a hugely successful relationship with a large multi-academy trust. Since then, we have continued to work in partnership with them and other UK clients to source the high calibre teachers they need – many from overseas.

In 2019, Hourglass teamed up with Pertemps Professional Recruitment. This is a great fit as we share an ambitious approach to recruitment, a passion for working with people, and operating with honesty and integrity.

2021 Award winning leadership

It’s fair to say Andrew Anastasiou’s business plan is consistently ambitious!
He established Pertemps Professional Recruitment in December 2016, and has overseen its dramatic growth and radical brand development since then.
Andrew’s leadership skills were recognised in 2021 when he won ‘Agency Recruitment Leader of the Year’ in the prestigious Recruiter Awards.

2022 Taking off down under

October 2022 was a big month for Hourglass as we launched our new enterprise on York Street in Sydney, Australia.
Although Hourglass is a hugely experienced international recruitment firm, this move gives its consultants, and their colleagues throughout the Pertemps Professional Group, a physical presence in a new continent.
