Long-term supply provides a level of security without the teacher or the school committing indefinitely.
We first met Karl in Kingston, Jamaica, when we were holding a recruitment drive for a multi-academy trust. Karl relocated to Surrey and took up his post as a teacher of mathematics in a large secondary school.
We were delighted to hear that Karl had been recognised as the Harris Federation’s overall ‘Transforming Lives as a Teacher’ winner. His head teacher said: “Since joining us, Karl has been reflective of his teaching and is ambitious for his students. They know he cares about them and wants them to achieve. Karl is an outstanding maths teacher and a fantastic member of the team.”
Karl remembers:
“The past three years have come with their challenges. However, I have never felt alone. Hourglass gave me the support and information I needed to settle into my new role.”
